Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House is a non-fiction book by Michael Wolff. It was published on January 5, 2018, by Henry Holt and Company. The book details the first year of the presidency of Donald Trump. The title is a reference to a quote of Trump referring to the conflict with North Korea. It became the number one bestseller in print and e-book on Amazon.com as well as on Apple iBooks Store after the first excerpts were released on January 3. On January 4, lawyers for Trump sent cease and desist notices to the author and publisher in an attempt to stop the book's publication.
The book highlights unflattering descriptions of Trump's behavior, chaotic interactions among senior White House staff, and derogatory comments about the Trump family by former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon. It reveals the contempt in which Trump is held by nearly all of his associates. The book also claims that Trump did not want to win the election, and was greatly surprised to have won.
