He worked over 30 years for that pension... he should get it.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s a coward and should be publicly humiliated but he earned that pension over many, many years...
He will always be referred to as coward of the county for the rest of his life, some legacy, let him enjoy his retirement
A pension is one thing but $104,428 A YEAR?????? Gee i wonder how our governments wracked up such massive debt with cushy excessive payouts like that
He made a mistake. A big one! Does not erase a long career. Still in shock he was making over $100k a year. Not saying police and others don’t deserve to be paid well because I do.
So, his 32 years of service shouldn't matter anymore and he should lose his pension for one horrible decision he made in the heat of a terrifying moment? Nah. He earned it. He also earned being ripped in the media for his cowardess, and I'm pretty sure he's being sued in Civil Court.
Regardless of what happened at that school. $+100K pension for a sheriff deputy is ridiculous. Maybe in Manhattan or SF, but Florida? That's twice the national average salary for working people.
He earned that pension over a 32 year career. The amount of the pension was negotiated by the union which he paid into over that 32 year career. The supreme court has ruled that he or any other officer has no " duty to protect". He recieved orders and followed them and he has to live with that for the rest of his life.
I think this is wrong what the MEDA is doing here!!!! The MEDA is a “coward” and disgrace !!! There taking all this mess about this man and have no idea what went on at the school in those few second. For one thing if you have an active shooter your trained to wait for back up. With I understand this was a school with kids inside and I “probably “ would have went in BUT I was not there so I’m not going to judge this mans actions. He deserves his pension 100% !!!!
That's the way it works. Rewards for doing the unthinkable. He should have to stand in the welfare line and ask for help like those students had to do and no one came. Hid in the bushes, like a thief
The parents of the victims might have a case in civil court. Not matter how well he did or did not do his job more than likely his pension is from years of investing in a retirement fund.
