Well, can you blame them. They counted on help .....and that failed. I, personally think teachers should teach. They have their hands full with the kids of today. However, if they are willing to do so, and have the proper training ....then go for it. It would always be better than being a sitting duck for some mental case. I also believe, these teachers that are armed ...should NOT be the first line of defense. Would be wonderful if the school had metal detectors ....one way in only .....armed veterans ....then if a shooter managed to get thru them ....at least the students and teachers would have a chance.
Don't need to make a big deal out of training teachers to use guns.. Just get rid of the Gun Free Zone signs and the problem will take care of itself.
Several people I know carry. Self protection is extremely important these days. Crazy people running around, trigger happy law enforcement and a government who want's to take my weapons. It's a no brainer....
Kudos to the teachers who are willing to carry. My personal feelings are that the teacher actually might be the first line of defense, and if I were in that situation I would rather be able to defend my students and myself. Yes metal detectors, and limited entry ways, as well as a couple security guards, but people can get in, and the security personnel can't be everywhere at the same time. Then it comes down to the teacher as the closest adult. Even better when the teachers with the firearms aren't identified. Just remove the gun free add, let all schools advertise the weapons on school grounds, the shooters will go to a different less fortified spot.
Idaho, Ohio and now, Texas....get ready America, we are pissed and we will not see any more of our schools become soft targets.
Texas teachers are taking training on how to handle guns. They don't want to be in a position where a terrorist can have a gun to shoot them but they won't have a gun to defend themselves and the students.
These people, taking control of their own fates, are my heroes. Instead of throwing themselves in front of an active killer, they have the option, for themselves and their students, to live another day.
I live here and yes I do. I see open carry all over. So most of us here are not scared of our own shadow. Unless they are from Austin.
Not sure who's running that line but yikes! That's a lot of shooter's with no instructors standing behind them.Glad to see them out there though.
Maybe we will finally be able to say, " the last teacher who used the only weapon he had, his body, to protect his kids, has died." God Bless them. Future teachers will be armed.
