It is contempt. The liberals, who control the elections in states such as California, New York, Massachusetts and Illinois by purchasing voters in the big cities with welfare programs, are frustrated by the Electoral College which functions, as intended by the founding fathers, to prevent the large population states from dominating the less populated states. It is the same logic which led them to create the Senate where each state has two Senators irrespective of population.
It's an attempt to keep the democrat party alive, kind of like maintaining a healthy flow of illegal aliens, and condemning voter identification laws.
It's contemp for the constitution, Obama viewed the constitution as a list of negative rights for the government. The constitution limits what government can do, putting no limits on the people. The constitution was also written for God fearing morale people.
It is BOTH merely goes to show the degree of ignorance some folks have about why the Electoral College had such an important part in the creation of our Nation and the application of the "ground rules" spelled out in our Constitution. All one has to do is to look at the difference between the RED and BLUE areas of our country to see how well the EC worked. Yep, it still works and it is still, and will always be, a vital part of our system.
It is a corrupt desire on the part of liberals to enable a few liberal bastions in this country to dictate to the entire country. Without the electoral college, three or four states can dictate to the other forty six. WE WOULD BE RULED BY THE FOUR!
This goes part and parcel with the considerably increasing voter fraud in our country and the virtual ban on voter id...
Ignorance. It wasn't until this last election that I began to really look into what the EC was and how it functions as well as why it is needed. Up until then I voted to have my "voice heard" but thought "what's the point, it isn't counted anyway". So I had to learn. Personally, we need to stop all these ridiculous additional subject in school and get back to teaching what matters in how to be a productive citizen with the means and understanding of how the world particularly our country works. So many programs show be after school options that don't take place at school and don't use school/educational funding to do. That all needs to go back into the basics. When kids take a government class, every student needs to pass that class with a required A and if they don't they go through it again and again.
Contempt and ignorance. A Republic protects the individual from the masses. The Electoral College is in place to allow the entire nation a say in the process.
