If you don’t pay taxes the only way to get credits is by being a very poor parent of minor children. Most immigrants work multiple jobs at low wages and if they are undocumented, they don’t get a refund or credit, so the taxes they pay subsidize our federal bills.
RE: Stop H.R. 3999!
Here we go again. It never fails. Why do sick individuals in Washington use every horrific tragedy involving firearms as an excuse to eviscerate the Constitution and attempt to strip people of their God-given 2nd Amendment right? What is it about the Constitution that you hate?
Congressman Carlos Curbelo of Florida just started the ball rolling by introducing H.R. 3999, legislation that is supposedly aimed at curtailing bump-stocks, but actually makes the mere possession of just about every semi-automatic rifle on the market today a criminal offense.
Let me make myself perfectly clear. The American people aren't asking you to simply oppose this legislation. The American people are demanding that it be immediately withdrawn from consideration and that those who signed onto it offer the American people an apology for even considering this draconian legislative effort to eviscerate the 2nd Amendment!
Luke, your party’s tax-policy agenda is presently to eliminate all tax credits, not just those to illegal immigrants, so let’s not demonize them for no good reason here. Instead, as I personally explained to your staff in July, I’d like to hear you come out in support of retaining the Adoption Tax Credit, and making it refundable. The ATC too often makes the difference between being able to adopt and not for people desirous of becoming parents, and it’s a true middle-class tax cut, as it phases out at around $200K AGI. You’re in favor of adoption, right? Put our money where your mouth is.
When are you and the rest of the G'nO!'P going to stop with the dog whistles and focus back on what's important? And then get THAT right, because Reagan wasn't. You realize, I hope that immigrants, including illegals, contribute 1.6 TRILLION to the economy yearly? And create a helluva lot of demand....THAT is a job creation engine. So is the middle class, when it has spare cash. The wealthy and corporations, whom you always want to tax less, are not job creators. Take a look at Iowa....
If those that we all pay their high income...senators, congress people, president, etc paid their portion we would not be in this mess! These government subsidized people, aka those who our taxes pay, should have to pay like the rest of us without tax breaks and write offs.
Stop creating chaos and fear with misinformation like this targeting immigrants and use your time to make meaningful differences in real lives. The Adoption Tax Credit is one such example - and needs your support.
The unlawful tax evaders who bring them here all work in public places. So what is stopping the Social Security agents from enrolling all those fathers and sons, mothers and daughters in schools?
A majority of Americans want taxes on the rich and on big companies to rise. Yet you are trying to write a bill that cuts those taxes enormously. So you've got a political problem, especially because you also plan to raise some taxes on the middle class and poor to hold down the bill’s price tag. Nonetheless, you have vowed to release a bill today. Then you'll try to sell it, less than honestly, as a middle-class tax cut. In truth, it is built around deeply cutting corporate taxes and repealing the estate tax. The estate tax only applies to an inheritance greater than 5 million dollars. Anyone who inherits more than 5 million dollars can afford to pay something into the system.
